Engineers At MIT Have Made A Huge Breakthrough For The Blind. This Machine Is Incredible.

Science
Braille has been an effective tool to help those who are blind read; however, it's understandably difficult when they're tasked with reading something that isn't converted to that format. Fortunately for those with impaired vision, engineers have developed this wonderful machine that will hopefully change the way they experience the world around them. Introducing The FingerReader: MIT Media Lab's FingerReader is an impressive machine. MIT Media Lab It's a 3D-printed device that uses the attached camera to recognize and read text for the user. I Was Using Google Earth When I Noticed Something Awesome… In Fact, 29 Awesome Things.

So I Found A Random City On Google Maps The Other Day… And Its Unknown Secret Is AWESOME.

Science
Every city has its flaws... except maybe for Palmanova, Italy. It was designed by artist and architect Vincenzo Scamozzi, in the shape of star. It's world renown for its unusual, almost perfect shape. There is something inherently appealing about its concentric citadel or fortress plan and structure. The "star fort" city is pleasing to people mathematically and aesthetically (and even strategically, if you're thinking about city defense). How could you not stop in this fortress of a city if you were just passing by? It was constructed during the renaissance. The city and commune was meant to be a utopia. It was built at the end of the 16th century by the Venetian Rep...
